the catcher in the rye is one of the book that i read again and again. i remember i read it the first time when i was in high school. the book was part of english literature class.
What really knocks me out is a book that, when you’re all done reading it, you wish the author that wrote it was a terrific friend of yours and you could call him up on the phone whenever you felt like it. That doesn’t happen much, though.
after months, i finally finished reading sea of poppies. yay!
i have to admit this is a good book, i just can’t stand the indian terms i don’t understand. and they’re everywhere in the book.
the story sets during the beginning of 19th century in india, about a french girl who was born and grew up in india, about the opium which was planted in india to be traded in china, about an indian raja who was jailed, about the voyage in the ocean to madagascar.
Author’s Note: The following is a work of fiction. Any resemblance to persons living or dead is purely coincidental. Especially you Jenny Beckman. Bitch.
visiting tobucil (toko buku kecil) was one of my highlight from last trip to bandung. i’ve heard about this place a long time ago but never really had chance to drop by.
the place was literally small, almost invisible from the road. inside, there were old books in shelves but the one that interested me the most was the craft corner! i found treasures: origami papers with pattern and some flowery fabrics cut in small pieces.
i also got an awesome necklace. but since i’m not a necklace person, i put it on my bag.
ps: the stripes bag was from katallog. i still don’t know what i will use it for. i just like the stripes’ color.
i spent a few days of my christmas-new year vacation in bandung, the city where i grew up. and hubby spent a big chunk of his life there, so for us it was like going home.
we stayed at hotel concordia in bumi sangkuriang. again, it was my childhood’s place. i spent a lot of my times there when i was a kid. and most of the things still stay the same: the dutch colonial building, the circular swimming pool and the big lawn. the surround area also changed only a little.
bandung was raining most of the time. getting used to jakarta’s atmosphere, bandung felt soooo cold. the traffic jam inside the city was awful. but it still felt good to be back to bandung again.
i still have some left over sunflower seeds from our wedding favour.anyone interested planting them, just e-mail me your address. i can send the seeds as long as you live within indonesia.
last weekend, we found a treasure, a little green warung in casablanca area called dapur buntut.
they signature dish is sop buntut karamel which i ordered. and it was so yummy that i want to go back there again.
